HOPE Annual Science fair

IT’S SCIENCE FAIR TIME!!

 

WHAT: The  HOPE  Science Fair

 

WHEN:  Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009; from 10 am to about noon  (set up starts  at 9:30 am)

 

WHERE:   my house

 

HOW:  Complete a Mathematics or  Science project  using the scientific method. (required for county competition) This consists of the following:

 

·        Purpose  Why are you doing the Project? What are you investigating?

 

·        Hypothesis  What is the question? What do you think is the answer?

 

·        Procedure  How are you going to do the experiment or solve the problem?  What steps are you taking in your investigation? REPEAT INVESTIGATION AT LEAST 3 TIMES TO VALIDATE YOUR FINDINGS. (if you want to go to county)

 

·        List of materials  What materials will you need for your experiment or investigation?

 

·        Observations and Data  Collect information as you conduct your experiment or investigation.

 

·        Relation to Mathematics (REQUIRED FOR MATH PROJECTS) Explain how your experiment or investigation relates to mathematics

 

·        Conclusion  Write a statement of the results of your experiment or investigation, making reference to your hypothesis, and how it was supported or rejected by the data you collected.

WINNERS:  Go to PBC district regional (for K- 5th grade) in April  2010

                     (6th grade and up go in Dec. 2009)

 

MISCELLANIOUS: (Pertains to county rules if you intend to advance  to there. If not, don’t worry about these.)

 

Names must not be visible on the front of the project board

 

Photographs should not show students faces (if have, may cover face with a sticker)

 

Project boards must not exceed 36” X 48”
